What a BNI Director does

A Chapter is run by its Leadership Team. A Director works with many Chapters at once and is there to support their Leadership Teams.

  • You support Chapter Leadership Teams

You help the Members who run their Chapters prepare every meeting.

The Leadership Team knows what to do, and the Chapter gets a well-prepared meeting.

  • You train Chapter leaders

You teach Leadership Teams how to run meetings, look after the quality of referrals and grow the Chapter.

The Chapter works towards results for all of its Members.

  • You uphold the programme standard

You look after the structure of the meeting and the quality of the referrals passed on.

A Member of every Chapter in the region gets a meeting of the same quality.

  • You help Members talk about their business

Together with a Member you build a presentation strategy: how to talk about their speciality.

The other Members know whom to refer them to and how.

  • You grow Chapters

You accompany Chapters as they welcome new Members and as further Chapters are launched.

The region gains more business owners who exchange referrals.

  • You represent BNI in the region

You speak on behalf of BNI to business owners in your region.

Your name starts to be recognised in local business.

See this role in practice

Directors learn at BNI Advanced Training and then help launch new Chapters.

Advanced Training is part of the training cycle for Directors: launching new Chapters, training Members, managing Chapters. You then work with the same proven procedures that apply in BNI all over the world.

What you gain from the role of Director

By helping Chapters you also develop yourself: you meet business owners, learn from practitioners and receive a method you carry over into your own company.

  • A community of business owners

You work among business owners from nearly 100 Chapters across Poland, bringing together around 2,300 companies.

You get to know business owners from different industries and regions.

  • Exchanging knowledge with practitioners

Every day you talk with people who run their own companies — about sales, management and growth.

This is knowledge that comes back to your business.

  • Proven procedures

You receive the working method ready-made — a system proven around the world, the same in every Chapter.

From day one you work with what already works.

  • Training and events

You have your own training for Directors and a closed Directors’ Day alongside the national conference.

You learn to lead leaders, not just meetings.

  • Leadership skills

You develop the strategic, advisory and negotiation skills this role requires.

You see from the inside how companies from very different industries work.

  • The Company community

The role opens the door to The Company: alongside BNI it includes Corporate Connections, Think Tank and an entrepreneurship foundation.

This is an environment in which your influence can grow together with you.

What we expect

A Director works with business owners and Chapter Leadership Teams, so what counts is authority built on your own business practice.

Most often, a Director is someone who is already a Member: they know the strength of their Chapter from the inside and want a greater impact — on the region, on the quality of meetings, on the development of other business owners. If you run a company and people naturally come to you for advice — that is a good sign.

  • Your own company and many years of business experience.
  • A willingness to share your extensive business contacts.
  • The ability to manage people and time.
  • The motivation to help others in business and to share knowledge.
  • Openness to training and development — your own and your company’s.
